This week, our focus was on Primatology and we learned about the various ways in which studying primates can help us learn more about how humans evolved to be the way that we are! I found it super interesting to learn about warfare between different groups of chimpanzees, and to hear the argument that we could have evolved to be violent from the common ancestor that we share with chimps.

I also found it interesting to read the article on Chimpanzee wars and to hear about how Spider monkeys, which are way further from us and chimpanzees genetically, also engage in warfare with other groups. To hear about violence being not purely genetic, but also relying heavily on environment and situation was really intriguing to me.

Learning about the various ways primates protect and define their territories is super interesting to me because it makes me wonder if our distant ancestors may have lived in similarly built societies!
