Mystery Cave

The Cave of Forgotten Dreams was an interesting movie to say the least. It had the creepy vibe to it that could hook it’s viewers into it all the way to the end. The movie was overall enjoyable and very informative about one of the oldest caves in the world!

This movie starts off walking through a field with eerie music playing and then it raises into the air to give an overview of the surrounding landscape. It was a good way of hooking viewers from the beginning but that wasn’t even my favorite part about the movie. Some archaeologists and other scientists were allowed to go into the cave with a film crew for one hour. What they found in the cave was nothing less than incredible. The cave is around 1,300 feet in length and cave paintings cover much of the walls. One of the cave paintings that they focused on was this depiction of horses running and what seemed like two rhino’s fighting each other. These pictures most likely illustrate the types of animals that were present around the humanoids that made these paintings 32,000 years ago.

That is another thing that just boggles my mind. These scientists that went in and studied this cave were standing in the same exact places that these people/humanoids were standing 32,000 years ago. That might just be something that I find interesting, and I may be by myself for that, but it just intrigues me to think that. Another thing that intrigues me about this cave is the red circles painted on the wall of the cave in a certain area. The scientists studied this painting and were able to deduce how the painter constructed this painting. They used their palms to make the red circles. The scientists were even able to figure out where the painter started making the dots. I have no idea how they were able to figure that out but it’s an interesting bit of information about the painting and it’s creator.

Overall, the movie really got me thinking about what life was like 32,000 years ago right here where East Lansing is! What humanoid was walking around where Berkley Hall is supposed to be? What animal was hunting on the 50 yard line in Spartan Stadium? What prehistoric fish was swimming in the ol’ Red Cedar?!  This might not be interesting to anyone else but thinking about things like that really intrigues me!
