Announcements Archive

This is where official course announcements will be archived. Once a new announcement goes up on the front page, I’ll move the old announcement here so that you can still refer back to it. All the announcements will be stored on this page for your reference.

Note: I will usually cross-post announcements in a ‘post’ format on the Class Blog, so that you can comment on the post with any questions you might have. This is because these announcement pages do not allow comments. So don’t be confused when you occasionally see two links with the same title – it is just the same information appearing in two different places.

June 6 – June 12
Week 4
 – Primates and Monkeys

Now that we’ve taken care of the “why” and the “how” of understanding science, evolution, and biology, it’s finally time to begin looking at the evidence. We will start with some of our most distant and closely related ancestors to lay the groundwork for understanding how human beings came to be.

Watch and take notes on the lecture videos and read and take notes on the required readings.

Optional: bonus blog 2 is due by Friday June 10th at 5pm and blog response 2 is due by Sunday June 12th at 5pm. For more info on expectations for blogs/responses, see the Assignments & Grading section of the WordPress website.

As always, message me with any questions or concerns.

May 16 – May 22
Week ONE – Epistemology and Science

Class has officially begun! Watch and take notes on the lecture videos. If you have not done so, login into the course D2L and review the Syllabus (posted under the News section).

Your first exam is this weekend! Exam 1 will be available on D2L from Friday May 20th at 5pm to Sunday May 22nd at 5pm. Exam 1 has 25 questions: a mix of multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, and short answer. You will have 60 minutes to complete Exam 1.

I would also recommend that you make a practice Blog Post where you introduce yourself: your name, year, major, and reason for taking ISS 220 this summer, especially if WordPress is new to you. Simply navigate to the Schedule section and look under Pre-Week 1 and watch the “Posting & Commenting Video” to learn how.
