Extra Credit – Introductory Blog Post

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie Shaman. I am a junior majoring in Nutritional Sciences. I am not too far away from school as I am from West Bloomfield, Michigan. I like to do a lot of things outside of school like volunteer, spend time with my friends and family, and traveling even if it is just around the state. I also am an avid violinist, and love playing tennis and swimming. One fun fact about myself is that I have two cats: their names are Crush and Stormi – their names have to do with the color of their fur, since crush is the name of an orange soda and stormy skies are dark gray. As you can tell my little sister is very creative with names. One thing I hope to learn about this class is to understand the different international perspectives that female individuals have with biomedicine and the public health industry. This class is very interesting so far!

  1. Hi Stephanie,
I’m glad you like the course so far, and hopefully you’ll find more of the content interesting. It is really incredible how much gender impacts our health and our healthcare, and how much culture dominates an institution that is supposed to be entirely logical and scientifically driven.
I also love that your cat is named after the pop, that is really creative! I also really like that pop too.
