The hypothesis: The prehistoric record contains evidence of enormous and unexpected leaps forward in science and technology. These leaps are evidence of the introduction of such innovations by extra terrestrial aliens. Some people would think that the prehistoric human could have not been able to create the pyramids, agriculture, various sculptures and statues, the calendar, temples, and many other sites. They think that there were ancient aliens that had to have a role in helping them. With enormous leaps in technology, how did humans do it by themselves? They had to have help.

The case I am going to outline comes from the book Chariots of the Gods,  by Erich Von Daniken. In chapter three it tells the story of Sacsayhuaman which is stacks of monolithic blocks weighing more than 100 tons, the terrace walls over 1,500 ft long and 54 ft wide. It is located in present day Cuzco, it is said to have been created by the Incas. It is hard to imagine what resources they used, to extract monolithic rocks that weigh more than 100 tons from a quarry, then to transport the rocks and place them to create a wall. A few hundred yards away from Sacsayhuaman there is a crater in a mountainside, it is a single stone block the size of a four-story house. The stone has steps, ramps, spiraels, and holes. The craftsmanship is unlike any other so neatly carved and thought out. On how well this stone was constructed could it have been the work of only the Incas? Or were there extraterrestrials that helped?

What purpose did the stone serve? Additionally on the block is that it stands on its head, and the steps run downward from the roof, the holes point in different directions on the sides. There are also strange depressions, shaped like chairs. How could just humans make such a creation by themselves? What power and technology did they use to help craft such an enormous stone? How did they excavate it? How long did it take to finish such a project? Who all carved the block? So many questions with little answers. That’s when people start making up scenarios about what happened and how the whole ancient aliens thing came into play. But there has to be an explanation for these phenomenons.

About 900 yards away from the stone there was yet another mystery there: some rock vitrification that is only possible through melting stones at extremely high temperatures. This had to have been aliens right? Maybe, but people’s theories can get pretty wild. Some logical explanations for this is that a glacier was the cause, the glacier ground the rock down, also that the glacier ground down all six sides of the rock formation. Also with the monolithic stone was built solely by the Incas using all of their men to lift and place the rocks, or used some type of pulley system. In addition, there is an archaeological, cultural and/or historic explanation for all of these phenomenons as opposed to extraterrestrials. With more time studying and with correct archaeological methods we can find out the real explanation for them.
