There are clearly still so many ways that humans are still evolving. There are so many factors that contribute to this. One thing that we all have clearly seen over the years are how human have been evolving socially. Back in the day, internet was like not even a thing. Now a days I even have to help my mom do certain things on her phone that come “naturally” to people my age. I think that people communicating mostly over social media has actually had an impact on how people interact currently. So many of my friends have “fallen in love” with celebrities over social media. I think it is crazy that these celebrities are unaware of it. It is not a huge thing but I find it super interesting that people can be “obsessed” with somebody socially over the internet and the other person not even realize it. That is just one thing I find interesting. Another thing I find interesting and awesome, is how it is now normal to be in a multi-racial relationship. There are still people out there against this, which is awful, but it is showing how we have evolved in that aspect. Something I did read about had to do with dairy. I read a sentence that said “We can see evidence of this evolution today because humans in areas with a long tradition of dairy farming such as Europe are much more tolerant of lactose in their diet than people in regions that do not have a heritage of dairy farming, such as Asia.” When reading this it makes me wonder how different people will be in the future regarding certain types of their diet. Lastly, my favorite topic, is how we have evolved in regards to the medical field. You even hear your parents and grandparents talking about how different medicines/cures were back in the day. Even over the last decade, my aunt had surgery which left her with a huge incision and now it is a super small incision and a quick surgery. Also, there are so many people out there now that research and out in a tremendous amount of work to help people with certain diseases. Whereas, many people could not even help with diseases back then which killed so many humans. There are so many people that know the early onset of certain types of diseases and what side affects one develops that can help treat them properly early on. So many people back in the day died earlier than us humans now. This proves there are so many things out here today that help humans and are beneficial in helping us live longer. Overall, these were just a few things that I found that have evolved over so many years whether it was biologically, environmentally, behaviorally and culturally. I truly think it will be super interesting to see how the world looks way in the future. Even in a few decades I know there will be things that have evolved either just a little or even tremendously. I know this because if you talk to your parents or grandparents right now they have proved to us how different it was when they were growing up. Even, right now, I notice how early kids are raised around technology. This was a great course and I have learned a lot.

  1. After reading your post I thought about how crazy it is to think how fast evolution occurs. You mentioned having to help your mom with some of our more common technology, illustrating that drastic behavioral changed happened only over one generation. Other types of evolution may occur over hundreds of hears but it’s so interesting to think how fast behavior can evolve through time from region to region. I also really liked your input on human lactose tolerance! I didn’t realize dairy was a regional attribute that has an effect on someone’s health and daily life. This also has an effect on the generations after us and how predisposed our future will be to lactose. So interesting, thanks for the great post!
