In order to test the hypothesis that the prehistoric record contains enormous, unexpected leaps forward in science and technology and these leaps are evidence of introductions of innovations by extraterrestrial aliens, I would first rationally consider the “evidence” provided, then see how this information fits into the scientifically proven record of history we already have. It is best- and only fair- to approach the testing of the hypothesis with an open mind. We cannot simply discount the hypothesis based solely on disbelief in aliens. Rather, I would begin by taking the evidence, such as the lines of Nazca, Topkapi Palace maps, or Bay of Pisco Cliff drawings and decipher what exactly they suggest in regards to the hypothesis. In these cases, claims are made suggesting these incidences could only be possible, or purposeful if flight existed during the time of creation. Knowing the information provided through archaeology, it is clear these claims do not line up with the historic timeline- considering flight was not made possible until many years beyond these creations. To tie back to the hypothesis, that these innovations were introduced by aliens, this particular section can be evaluated using science. Since current technology only allows us to explore so far into the solar system and there are many limitations with doing so, we must use the information we have here on earth. Truly, the “proof” of aliens coming the earth thousands of years ago, is not proof at all. Instead, the entire idea is built on assumptions and therefor dismissible. If aliens did visit earth in the past, there would be abundant concrete evidence that would be tested and tried, again and again, before coming to such a conclusion; whereas those supporting the idea instead came up with the conclusion first (aliens came to earth), THEN searched for the “evidence” to back it up. Because of this, the hypothesis for aliens introducing innovations many years ago must be considered falsified.

As I mentioned earlier, the pains of the ancient city of Nazca are a piece of “evidence” for aliens. From an aerial view, the area contains miles of gigantic geometric lines and designs. While archaeologists explain the lines as Inca roads, Von Daniken and other alien believers attribute the phenomenon to a possible alien-spacecraft airfield. While there are many debated purposes for the lines, scholarly explanations can be backed up by archaeological evidence. For example, the patterns found on the plains are similar to those found painted on the Nazca people’s pottery. Also, culturally the Nazca people were very religious and it is likely the lines were walked in religious rituals or somehow involved in worship. Clearly, there are many other plausible explanations for the patterns other than aliens.
