The hypothesis that pyramid building was introduced into Egypt by aliens or an advanced civilization such as Atlantis is wrong. However many pseudo archaeologists believe in this theory and believe that is how the pyramids came to be. If pyramid building was introduced by an outside source there would be an archaeological record of that meeting and who this outside source was, be it aliens or Atlanteans. As well, the archaeological record would show the fact that this civilization existed or in any way effected earth. In the theory that pyramids come from Atlantis, there would be record of people traveling from one civilization to the other and the pyramids that the Atlanteans were supposedly building. In the theory that pyramids were brought to the Egyptians by aliens there would be record of the aliens, or at least people who had seen the aliens. Also we probably would have seen the aliens again, because they would probably have interests outside of pyramids. The actual archaeological record show that the Egyptians build the pyramids with no outside influence. There is clear evidence of how they built them and of motive. We also know that they didn’t have some alien or Atlantean intelligence directing their constructions because they made mistakes. The Bent Pyramid for example, shows a design failure by the builders, if some higher power was building these things this wouldn’t happen.

A similar hypothesis is that Atlantis was a super advanced civilization that existed ca. 10,000 years ago from which the Maya and ancient Egyptians defused. The first part of this theory depends on the fact that Atlantis existed at all. There is no archaeological evidence that Atlantis existed, there is no city or evidence that people lived in such a place. There is also no evidence that said city had super advance technology, as is often cited as one of their defining features. As well there is specific textual evidence that shows where the myth got its start, and that it was in fact a fable told by Plato. As well, their is no historical evidence of other countries interacting with Atlantis, if they had such advance technology wouldn’t they also have a thriving trade network, but no such evidence exists. The second half of the theory claims that Mayan and Egyptian cultures both have pyramids due to hyper diffusion from Atlantis. This is entirely wrong. Firstly, neither of these civilizations have evidence of having contact with each other or Atlantis. Secondly, both have evidence of creating pyramids independently, and of building them. Lastly, if a culture could build pyramids and contact both the Maya and Egyptians, wouldn’t they have some sort of archaeological evidence surrounding their existence? The answer is yes.
