There has been speculation about the “true” origins of the Egyptian pyramids for hundreds of years; pseudoarchaeologists will suggest either ancient aliens or the people of Atlantis came up with the idea. However, if the proposed hypotheses were indeed true, there would be evidence to verify their ideology. In regards to ancient aliens, or Atlantis, building the pyramids, there would be historical and archaeological records depicting their arrival and the construction; this information would be detailed in hieroglyphics and ancient texts. Specifically, ancient humans who were “visited by aliens” would have written about the construction process, and the same could be said pertaining to Atlantis. It would not make sense for them to receive help building these great monuments and not write a written account of it. Archaeologists know this to be true because there are current records describing the construction of certain pyramids. Instead, the only written “evidence” found were a few questionable cave drawings of objects that resemble flying saucers, and no scientific-based evidence to support the Atlantis theory.  Keeping in mind that the first airborne plane was not invented until 1903, wouldn’t the ancient humans have been mesmerized by flying saucers? Wouldn’t they have written about these flying objects in amazement? Logically, neither aliens nor the people of Atlantis could not have built the pyramids for the simple fact that there were no written records. Furthermore, there would be artifacts to prove extraterrestrial existence on Earth. If they came down in flying space crafts archaeologists would have found advanced mechanical evidence. They would have found artifacts that implied an unknown advanced society had resided close by. The same could be said for the presence of Atlantis in Egypt. Considering Atlantis was an advanced society, if they helped build the pyramids we would have found advanced technology to prove they were in Egypt. There are no artifacts to prove either community had resided in Egypt during the time in which the pyramids were built. However, there are records and sites that describe the housing units and payment plans used by the people who actually worked on the pyramids. Moreover, if Atlantis were real, and they did build the pyramids, we would find vast cities under the water. There would be so many artifacts hidden in the ocean for us to find, even though Atlantis was around thousands of years ago, and so far we have not found anything of great importance.
