Introductory Post

Hi, my name is Arya and I am an incoming senior from Bloomfield, Michigan. I am working on completing my BS in psychology, although I am on a pre-optometry track. Right now I am home for the summer working alongside doctors and trying to build a resume in preparation for optometry school. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and traveling as much as I can. I actually love my job, too, which is something I spend a lot of time doing. An interesting fun fact about me is that I can wiggle my ears. This is always my go-to fun fact, and then people ask me to show them, which I hate doing. It is relieving that this class is online so I don’t have to be put on the spot!

I have always loved learning about people and different cultures across the globe, which is why I have chosen to study psychology and why I am excited to jump into this class. My minor is in bioethics, which is another reason that I chose this course. Out of my choices for classes to apply towards this track, I thought one on women and health would be applicable to both my interests in people, and healthcare. I am excited that this class especially focuses on women, because I feel that more narrow subjects allow me to gain a greater understanding and truly delve into the content. I hope that through this class I will gain a greater understanding for the parities and disparities that women across the globe face.
