Activity Post 7

Throughout this class, I learned a lot about taking a stance on certain topics. Before, I never really had an opinion on social and political issues that were going on outside of the United States. However, I really enjoyed learning more about and being able to form my own opinions on the material. I enjoyed reading about all of my classmate’s stories and sharing my own and even though it was an online class, I felt like I got to know different people through their blog posts.

Additionally, as someone who has familial ties to India, I decided to spend this semester learning more about the country. As India was my chosen country to do my final project on, I got to learn a lot about the situation there and the different cultural aspects that made it such a so different from the United States. My grandmother gave birth to my aunt in India, which is why I decided to learn about the maternal mortality situation there. The rates were so large compared to those in the United States and I am thankful that everything worked out for her delivery and that her and my aunt were both alright, despite the challenges of women giving birth in India.

In the future, I think it would be a good idea to make it mandatory for people to comment on a different classmate’s blog post each week. That way each person gets to hear from someone different each week. However, I really enjoyed this class and am glad I decided to take it as it was very interesting and life changing.

  1. I’m glad that you were able to find a personal connection with this class, and that you got to see and expose yourself to a variety of perspectives. That’s one of the great things about the blogs and having to comment on each other’s stuff, and it’s fun to watch y’all interact and grow your own ideas.
