Activity Post-Week 7

I actually really enjoyed taking this class. I learned so much about other countries, especially Cambodia. I definitely think everyone needs to take a class like this to be able to see how different everyday life is in other parts of the world. That can be based off of cultural differences, religion, society, and how others are treated. I think the biggest thing that shocked me about this class was how women are treated and viewed as in other places. Here in the US women are all about being their own person and sticking up/fighting for their rights. While in other places, they can be treated as property and taken advantage of in many aspects. What I enjoyed most about this class was that we stuck with one specific country and really got to see what all impacted the people that live there. Reading other people’s blog posts made it really easy to get a summary of what they had researched so it was nice just getting to read about what they found. What I didn’t like about this class as much was how much time I had to put into it. You should be putting a lot of time into each class you take, but it seems like all I did for this class was research and write papers. I don’t mind it, but when it is all that this class consists of, it made it difficult for me to want to do the assignments. I think if there were some quizzes or other activities other than the same things every week, it would be a lot more enjoyable. I also didn’t really like the way that this class was set-up on a different website. It made it difficult to try to navigate at times because I have never used this website before.

  1. The criticism with wordpress seems to be a common complaint across the different online courses, hopefully next summer the bugs will be sorted out. I’m happy that you enjoyed the course, even if it was a lot and seemed tedious at times.
