Week 7 Activity Post

As an accounting major, one of the most enjoyable parts of this class was being able to learn about different perspectives from non-business majors.  Even though my classes have different content most of the content flows together, and I’m sitting by similar students in every class.  Most of the people in this class are interested in a profession in the medical field, which allows me to see different viewpoints.  There were many things I learned while taking this class, but there’s one thing that stood out.  As a female, I need to challenge the culture by discussing topics that are considered un-lady like, such as menstruation.  This class really showed me that I find it very uncomfortable when women discuss their menstrual cycles, but I shouldn’t because it’s a naturally occurring body function. After taking this class, I learned to be more open about my body because based on my research when women don’t attend medical appointments they’re more apt to letting their health issues take over their lives.  From now on I’m going to try to be more willing to talk to people about my health and experience going through puberty.  If there’s one thing I would change about this class, it would be using Word Press.  Personally, I didn’t mind using Word Press, but it’s not as user friendly as I thought it would be.  Even after 7 weeks in this class I have difficulty navigating the website.  I’d prefer to use D2L discussion boards because I’m already familiar with the website, since I use it for all my other classes.  However, I still really enjoyed the class, and I’m going to recommend my friends take it as I found the content extremely useful.

  1. That is fantastic! I found the period week to be quite empowering myself. I’m also glad that you found the information in this class useful, I was a little worried that you wouldn’t be too interested as an accounting major, but I’m happy that wasn’t the case.
