My name is Lauren and I am a junior studying Advertising Management, in addition, to concurrently studying two minors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Advertising Analytics. I’m from a big city called Jacksonville located in Florida. But I’ve been living in Michigan since high school so I’ve had the chance to get accustomed to the big weather difference and small towns/cities.

I really enjoy drawing and painting in my free time. As well as researching new ways to improve my lifestyle such as eating a healthy and balanced diet, new skincare regimens and beauty products, yoga, and physical activities. I also enjoy makeup and cosmetics too! I’m currently on a plant phase where I’ve been doing some research on plants and purchasing some as well.

Something interesting about me is that if I wasn’t in college right now I would be in beauty school learning how to be an esthetician and eventually trying to open my own beauty spa. And another fun fact about me is that I want to visit Greece. I really like the culture, food, and cityscape of the country.

In this class, I hope to learn what are some approaches to fix some of the global health problems for women in third world countries. I’m interested in the process of how medical professionals discover new health issues and how the practice of medicine or cultural rituals will help solve some of those issues. Furthermore, I would like to be more knowledgeable about common health issues for women and western medicine in America.

  1. Hey Lauren,

Have you ever considered doing a study abroad in Greece, MSU has a very large study abroad program, and it might be worth your while to try it out. Especially as someone who is doing work in business.
In this class we’ll definitely be going over some issues that come from biomedicine and how this specifically effects women. Likewise, we will also be talking about women’s health in other parts of the world and some specific challenges they face.
