Meyers Emery is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at MSU. Her research focus is on mortuary archaeology, and her current research is the examination of co-occurrence of cremation and inhumation in Anglo-Saxon England using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She has worked in Ohio, New York, Michigan, Poland, Scotland, England and Italy on a variety of archaeological excavations.
Meyers Emery is currently the primary instructor for ANP 203: Introduction to Archaeology. In addition to this, she is a research fellow for the Campus Archaeology Program , a fellow in the Future Academic Scholars in Teaching program, an NSF-funded initiative to improve pedagogical skills in future university level teachers, and is working with the Graduate School to create new workshops for students.
She writes weekly on her blog Bones Don't Lie: News and Commentary on Bioarchaeology and Mortuary Archaeology. Meyers Emery also serves as the Associate Editor for Bioarchaeology for the Society for Archaeological Sciences. In addition to this work, she is the founder and co-editor of GradHacker, a collaborative blog for grad students on Inside Higher Ed.
